Be it Chandrayaan or Mangalyaan, India’s accomplishments in space missions deserve all plaudits. As the country gears up to launch the ‘Chandrayaan-2’, even the ‘Mangalyaan’ is ready for a second journey, only that this will be on the big screen. The timing could not have been more apt as ‘Mission Mangal’ also gears up for release just a month after the Chandrayaan-2. One of the members of the star-studded cast of the movie, Sonakshi Sinha, also congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) while expressing her delight at the mission being led by women.

Hours before the launch of India’s Moon Mission, Sonakshi tweeted, “One of India's most important and prestigious space missions, #Chandrayaan2, is led by women, which also happens to be a first for @isro! Proud of our spacewomen. To the moon!!! #GirlPower #ISRO #MissionMangal.”

Sonakshi, along with Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menen form the team of female scientists who play a major role in the Mangalyaan or Mars Orbiter Mission, on which ‘Mission Mangal’ is based on.

Meanwhile, Muthayya Vanitha and Ritu Karidhal are heading the Chandrayaan-2 in their roles as Project Director and Mission Director respectively.

The Mangalyaan mission in 2014 had made India only the fourth country in the world and the first Asian to reach Mars. Similarly, the Chandrayaan-2' makes India only the fourth country to soft land on the lunar surface.

Earlier, even Akshay Kumar, who along with Sharman Joshi and HG Dattatreya play scientists in ‘Mission Mangal’, had congratulated the ISRO for Chandrayaan-2 Mission.
