Dil Bechara: Desi 'Fault in Our Stars' promises strong performance

Dil Bechara is a heartwarming coming of age movie. The movie stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi in the lead roles. The story is the Hindi adaptation of John Green's novel, The Fault in Our Stars. The first look of the film was released on July 9, 2018. The poster featured the back of the two leads sitting atop a bus with an oxygen cylinder next to them. Sanjana Sanghi, who makes her debut with this romantic film, is playing the lead female actor. The movie is under the flagship of Fox Star Studio. Its shooting began on July 9, 2018, under the working title of Kizie and Manny.

Official adaptation of 'The Fault In Our Stars'

The initial name of this movie, Kizie Aur Manny was re-christened as Dil Bechara in Feb 2019. The current name, Dil Bechara, has been drawn from the lyrics of a song in the film, which is penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya and composed by AR Rahman. The makers felt that Dil Bechara title embodies the theme of the movie perfectly. In August 2018, a song was shot in one of the premier colleges of Ranchi. Mukesh Chabbra was selected to helm the direction of this project in October 2017. However, he was later suspended from the film over sexual harassment allegations by multiple women against him during the #metoo movement in Oct 2018. He was subsequently given a clean chit by ICC and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees. Farah Khan is the dance choreographer for this film.

The last scenes of the movie were shot in Paris in Jan 2019. This movie is expected to be an epic love story. The movie also stars Saif Ali Khan in a cameo role.  Reportedly, Saif plays the character of Peter Van Houten, whose role, in the original movie The Fault in our Stars, was essayed by Willem Dafoe. The movie produced by Subrata Chakraborty was also in the news again recently, after the lead actor Sushant was accused of being over-friendly with Sanjana, thereby making her uncomfortable. However, Sanjana later denied the news.
