Ayushmann's transition into Pooja

Ayushmann, in an interview with a news publication, said that he had to deliver almost 25 per cent of his dialogues in a female voice, and his radio background was a huge plus when it came to voice modulation. He said that the director of the movie sent him references of a few men who would prank people by speaking in a women’s voice and Ayushmann would study the reference extensively. He also added that he has spent years behind the mic on radio mimicking the people and that was an added advantage for the role. According to reports, the makers were planning to ask a woman to dub for the female voice. However, they were so impressed by Ayushmann, that they decided to stick to his voice modulation talents instead.

While speaking about the biggest challenge he faced, Ayushmann revealed that cracking the right note was very difficult. He explained that it was difficult to sound like a woman because, as a man, he has a natural deep baritone. He said that it wasn’t exhausting to transition between the voices as it was a great experience for him. He has always been drawn to different characters and a character as different as this one was very adventurous for him. Ayushmann revealed that it took three other people to help him drape a saree. However, it was a lot of fun.
