The makers of the upcoming Bollywood film 'Housefull 4' have appointed a new director after the former director Sajid Khan resigned from his position owing to the sexual harassment charges levelled against him. Amidst speculations to who will helm the fourth venture of the 'Housefull' franchise, it has been announced that the 'Housefull 3' director Farhad Samji has been appointed for the role. On Saturday, October 13, film critic Taran Adarsh, revealed the news on Twitter. In the post, he wrote, "IT'S OFFICIAL... Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment official statement: "#Housefull3 director Farhad Samji will now direct #Housefull4."

In the wake of the #MeToo movement in India especially Bollywood , several popular names have come in the forefront, who have been accused of sexual harassment by the women in the industry. Several celebrities including Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Subhash Ghai, Varun Grover, Luv Ranjan have been shamed for sexual harassment. Bollywood director Sajid Khan's name was also recently added to the list after he was accused of misbehaving with a journalist during an interview. The news broke out on Thursday, October 11, following which actress Rachel White and assistant director Saloni Chopra also accused the filmmaker of sexual harassment sharing their heart-wrenching experiences on their respective social media handles.
The whole #MeToo outrage started after former Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta accused actor Nana Patekar of misconduct. Patekar who was also set to feature in 'Housefull 4' was then shooting for the same in Rajasthan. Tanushree, the winner of the 2014 Miss Universe pageant accused Patekar of misconduct 10 years ago during the shooting of a special song for the movie 'Horn Ok Pleassss'. However, Patekar has declined all accusations and the duo is now fighting a legal battle.
Meanwhile, actor Akshay Kumar, who is also a part of 'Housefull 4' urged the producers to cancel the shoot of the film until the investigation comes to an end. In a social media post, he announced his decision on Friday, October 12.
