Farhan Akhtar is one of the most popular actors in Bollywood. He is widely known for playing the role of Milkha Singh in the movie, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. He is a multi-talented artiste as he is an actor, film director, writer, producer, and singer. Farhan Akhtar has started the initiative MARD, which stands for Men Against Rape and Discrimination against women. Farhan Akhtar became the first male ambassador for UN Women. He was invited to speak at the prestigious forum in 2015. Farhan spoke about his initiative, MARD and what it has done to spread awareness about equality for women. He also said that the initiative does not only focus on women but also ensures that men in society know how to treat women. One of his points of discussion was the fact that education is very important to bring about any form of change. He also said that education is very important. He further emphasised on the importance of having like-minded determined people to bring about the desired change. Taking the Nirbhaya case as an example, he said that the case is proof that when like-minded people unite for a common cause, they eventually succeed.

Algebra, the arts and ideas club, had invited Farhan Akhtar as a guest. While talking to the interviewer Shoma Chaudhary, Farhan spoke about an array of topics. He touched on some sensitive issues like his parents’ divorce when he was as young as eight years old and also confessed that he had a drinking problem. He said that his sister Zoya was his pillar during the hard phase of his life and that she understood he was going through something without him having to actually say it. He even touched upon the topic of his film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and how the film brought him out of a dark place. He also spoke about the MARD initiative and explained why he started the foundation in this first place. Farhan’s words are nothing short of inspirational as he discussed the highs and lows in his life.
