Gadar 2: Amrish Puri’s grandson Vardhan reacts to 'dadu' being brought back through CGI

Gadar 2 made its theatrical debut in theaters on August 11. The Sunny Deol starrer is a sequel to Gadar. The 2001 film featured Amrish Puri in a major role. The actor, who died in 2005, was brought back on the screen with the help of CGI in Gadar 2. His grandson Vardhan Puri revealed that he got emotional after watching this recreated version of him on screen.

In an interview with ANI, Vardhan said, “Ashraf Ali is a legendary character immortalised by my grandfather. The CGI-created recreation of Dadu in the film has made every Indian emotional all over the world. The respect the team and every Indian have shown to Dadu’s soul during the making of the film and during the marketing and release is overwhelming. My family and I love the Deol family and the Sharma family dearly.”

The actor, who has appeared in films like Aseq and Yeh Saali Aashiqui, added that they have been getting calls and messages from the fans and industry people. Everyone has been missing Amrish Puri. Even the director Anil Sharma and actor Sunny Deol also expressed their gratitude towards Amrish Puri. 

What is the plotline of the Gadar franchise?

Gadar, directed by Anil Sharma, debuted in theaters in 2001.  In the movie, which is set in 1947 during the partition of India, Sunny Deol portrayed Tara, a truck driver, while Ameesha portrayed Sakina. In Gadar 2, Tara Singh is seen crossing the border in a risky attempt to save his son (Utkarsh Sharma) who is being held captive in Pakistan.

With its massive collections, the sequel has been able to set a record at the box office. Gadar 2 made a staggering Rs 52 crore on its first Sunday in theatres.
