Hrithik Roshan's 'Super 30' tax-free in 8 states as it continues to draw footfalls at the box office

Haryana is the latest state to declare Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Super 30’ tax-free. Anand Kumar, on whom the film is based, and Hrithik thanked CM Manohar Lal Khattar. The movie has earned Rs 132.61 crore.

Over three weeks at the box office but there’s no stopping Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Super 30’. A small factor behind this could be the fact that eight states have declared the film tax-free. The latest to do so was Haryana. Anand Kumar, the educationist on whom the film is based, and Hrithik expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for the decision.

Anand Kumar recently met CM Khattar, and the duo posed together. The Super 30 founder also revealed that the Chief Minister praised the film and honoured him. 

Kumar tweeted, “Many thanks to Haryana CM Hon'ble @mlkhattar for announcing ‘Super 30’ film tax free in the state. The way you appreciated the film and honoured me, I shall ever be obliged for this.”

Hrithik Roshan also exulted over his film being declared tax-free in another state, conveying his gratitude to the CM and Minister Captain Abhimanyu. “Thank you to Shri @mlkhattar ji and Shri @CaptAbhimanyu for extending your support in our attempt to inspire the youth and propagate the importance of education,” the 45-year-old wrote. 

Before Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, New Delhi and Maharashtra, had also waived off the tax on the movie.

Meanwhile, the movie continued to rake in the moolah at the box office, earning Rs 96 lakh on Friday. The total now stands at Rs 132.61 crore, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh. 

‘Super 30’ traces the story of Anand Kumar’s journey towards establishing the successful Super 30 training programme for the Indian Institute of Technology entrance examination. The film, directed by Vikas Bahl, also stars Mrunal Thakur.
