The actor then went on to do some negative roles in Bollywood, but his career took a jumpstart when his film Life in a... Metro was appreciated by the critics for his amazing performance. Here Irrfan is seen playing the role of Rana, who owns a cab service. This movie had a very impactful star cast including Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan. Here, Irrfan is not taking up the lead role but is seen throughout the film. His performance in the film was appreciated by the audience as well as the critics, and he also bagged a number of awards for his performance. His film collected ₹ 78,38,50,000, making it his top-grossing film.

Hindi Medium

This film was Irrfan’s highest-grossing film at the time of its release. The film starred Saba Qamar, Deepak Dobriyal, and Amrita Singh. The film revolves around a married couple’s struggle to get their daughter into a reputed school. Khan’s film collected a total of  ₹ 63,06,50,000 at the box office, which marks the film as his third-highest grossing film.

This film revolves around two childhood friends who aspire to take over the coal mafia in Kolkata. Here, Irrfan is seen playing the role of a policeman, Satya, who acts as a barrier in order to maintain the legal coal trading and travelling. His film collected ₹ 73,28,00,000, making it his second-highest-grossing film.

Irrfan Khan is seen playing the role of an FBI agent, Roshan, who tries to interrogate three friends whose lives changed completely due to the twin tower crash. The film starred Katrina Kaif, John Abraham, and Neil Nitin Mukesh as leading characters. The film managed to collect a total of ₹ 45,39,25,000 and got the status of a hit film.
