Jimmy Sheirgill’s five best serious performances

A Wednesday

Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the movie was a thriller-drama based on a common man’s threat. Jimmy was seen as a cop Arif Khan, who strives to locate the disturbing caller with his partner and tries to detonate the bomb placed in Mumbai. His performance is considered as one of his bests. The movie also stars Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher. It was critically acclaimed by both the audiences and the critics.

Munna Bhai M.B.B.S

The film is said to be one of the best comedy movies in the industry yet. The film was a multi-starrer which includes Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Dutt, Boman Irani, Arshad Warsi, Rohini Hattangadi and Gracy Singh. However, Jimmy’s character of Zaheer, a dying cancer patient, caught many eyes. His serious and loving portrayal was appreciated.

Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster

Jimmy Sheirgill was seen playing Aditya Pratap Singh, a royal person. He tries to maintain his royal status in some hard financial statues that he faces in a political scenario. Beside him, the film includes Randeep Hooda and Mahie Gill. Jimmy’s performance was appreciated widely and the film received positive reviews. Later, two more parts were released.

Tanu Weds Manu

The romantic drama stars R Madhavan, Kangana Ranaut and Jimmy Sheirgill. He played the role of Raja, a local goon who is a possessive lover of Tanuja, played by Kangana. Jimmy stayed true to his character of the villain. The movie was a success at the box office and a second part was made.

Yahaan

The 2005 release was a war-romance film, centered around terrorism in Kashmir. The movie stars Jimmy Sheirgill and Minissha Lamba in lead roles. Jimmy was seen as an army officer Aman, while Minissha played Adaa, a Kashmiri girl. Although the film failed at the box office, Jimmy’s performance of a soldier who is struggling between duty and desire was praised.
