Kamal Haasan: All you need to know about 'Indian 2' actor's family

The prolific megastar Kamal Haasan was born on November 7, 1954. His father is D Srinivasan who was a lawyer and his mother, Rajalakshmi was a housewife. He has two brothers Charuhasan and Chandrahasan who also went on to become actors. The actor also has a sister, Nalini who is a trained classical dancer. The Chachi 420 actor completed his higher education in Paramakudi and then his family went on to move to Madras where his brothers completed their higher education. The actor continued his education in Madras and it was here that he started exploring his passion for films and acting.

Kamal Haasan received a Rashtrapathi award for the film Kalathur Kannamma

He also received a lot of support from his father when it came to pursuing his love for acting. Incidentally, the actor got his first film offer when a family friend got impressed by his demeanour. His family friend, M Saravanan recommended him for his production, Kalathur Kannamma. At the mere age of four, he received the Rashtrapathi Award for his performance in the film, Kalathur Kannamma. He also went on to star in five more films as a child artist. He went on to star in the Malayalam film, Kannum Karalum. The actor was also encouraged by his father to join a repertory company which was headed by TK Shanmugan.

The actor has two daughters, Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan from his second wife Sarika

The actor married dancer, Vani Ganapathy at the age of 24 in the year 1978. The duo had also collaborated together in the film, Melnattu Marumagal. Vani used to work as Kamal's costume designer after their marriage. However, the couple separated after ten years of marriage. The actor soon started a relationship with actor Sarika, and they soon tied the knot after the birth of their first daughter, Shruti Haasan. Shruti went on to do many films in Bollywood as well as Tollywood and is also a professional singer.

Their second daughter, Akshara Haasan was born in the year 1991 and was also an assistant director for the film, Vishwaroopam. Sarika also worked as a costume designer for the actor in his film, Hey Ram. However, the couple separated in the year 2004. The actor was also in a relationship with actor Gautami. The actor has left a profound legacy in the field of cinema and his daughters have also been giving a prominent contribution to the film industry.
