Laal Kaptaan, Omkara, Kaalakaandi: some of Saif's most versatile roles

Saif Ali Khan is a versatile actor who convinces his audience that he is the character that he is playing. Recently he has evidently impressed his fans with his performance in the Netflix original series, Sacred Games as Sartaj Singh. He will next be seen in the Navdeep Singh directorial Laal Kaptaan. The movie is slated to release on October 18 this year.

In Laal Kaptaan, Saif Ali Khan will be seen in the role of a Naga Sadhu. After sharing the poster, the makers came up with the trailer of the movie. The trailer begins with Saif Ali Khan talking philosophically about life. The next few shots show him riding a horse and dragging a dead body behind him. He is also seen in a bloody fight with quite a few men. Saif Ali Khan seems to be playing the role of an assassin in Laal Kaptaan.

The Laal Kaptaan lead actor is seen sporting kohl-rimmed eyes, dreadlocks held in a bandana and an ash-smeared face. Saif Ali Khan has reportedly got his ears pierced for the role in Laal Kaptaan. He also had to grow his hair which reportedly caused him irritation especially in the Rajasthan heat. Even the makeup was a lengthy process taking 40 minutes to two hours daily.

Saif Ali Khan’s versatile roles

Saif Ali Khan is a versatile actor and does justice to his roles according to critics and audiences alike. While being a nawab in real life, the actor has portrayed quite a few dynamic roles onscreen. He had starred in the 2006 release Omkara which is the Hindi adaptation of the Shakespearean play Othello. Saif Ali Khan played the character of Langda Tyagi. The transformation that Saif underwent for the role was very well-received. Much more impressive to his fans was his portrayal of the character.

In the 2018 release Kaalakaandi, Saif Ali Khan had portrayed quite a dramatic role. He did not hesitate to do a black comedy. The movie was very different in texture and tone.  Although Kaalakaandi tanked at the box-office, Saif had reportedly put in a terrific performance. While the script was deemed to be a dud, critics appreciated and praised Saif’s performance which seemed to be the only USP of the movie.

Saif Ali Khan’s upcoming movies

The Nawab of Pataudi will next be seen in the Nitin Kakkar directorial Jawaani Jaaneman. The Laal Kaptaan lead actor will be seen in the movie alongside Tabu and Chunky Pandey. He will also star in the period-drama Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior which also has Ajay Devgan and Kajol in the cast. He will reportedly star in the Hindi remake of Tamil movie Vikram Vedha along with Aamir Khan. It is rumoured that Saif will appear in Madhavan’s role of a cop.
