Priyanka Chopra and other B-town actors who have an army background

The relation between Bollywood and Armed forces was depicted several times on the silver screen, with movies such as The Ghazi Attack or Aiyaary. You might have observed that some of the actors of Bollywood have a disciplined lifestyle and a bold nature and it is just because of their army background. Here is a list of some Bollywood's army kids and we are glad they belong to an army background.

Priyanka Chopra

The Desi Girl of Bollywood has always mentioned about her military background in her interviews. Her father, Dr Ashok Chopra and mother, Dr Madhu Akhauri, both have served in the Indian Army. She travelled a lot in her schooling days, and that is why she is comfortable in adapting new places very easily. She lost her father in the year 2013, who was fighting a battle with Cancer.

Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma’s father, Ajay Kumar, was a Major in the Indian Army. This is the reason why Anushka changed schools all the time. She reportedly admits that her strength and fitness comes from her army background. In an interview with a media publication, she said that because of her upbringing, she has a very conservative approach towards life.

Lara Dutta

Former Miss Universe Lara Dutta also has an army connection. Her father L K Dutta is a retired Wing Commander. Her elder sister Sabrina also serves the Indian Air Force. After completing her Miss Universe commitments, Lara entered the Bollywood industry with the film Andaaz in 2003. She is also remembered for her movies which includes 'Masti', 'No Entry, 'Kaal', 'Partner', 'Hey Baby' amongst others.

Preity Zinta

The dimpled beauty of Bollywood, Preity Zinta, also has an army background. Her late father, Durganand Zinta, was an administrator in the Indian armed forces. Her elder brother Deepanker is currently working as a commissioned officer in the armed forces. She lost her father in the year 1998.

Sushmita Sen

Bollywood’s army connection also includes Sushmita Sen. Her father, Subir Sen, is a former Indian Air Force Wing Commander. She won the title of 'Miss Universe' in 1994 and later debuted in Bollywood with the film, Dastak in 1996. She studied in various air force schools across the country. Her army environment gave her confidence and made her successful today as an actor and also as a proud mother of two daughters.
