The focus will without a doubt be on Kangana Ranaut’s character Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi in ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’, but her life journey will be incomplete without her close ones and those who helped in the 1857 freedom uprising. The first look of Jhalkari Bai, one such important person, played by Ankita Lokhande, was released recently.

And now, the first looks of Jisshu Sengupta and Atul Kulkarni have also been unveiled.  Jisshu, a known face in Bengal entertainment industry, plays the role of Gangadhar Rao, the Maharaja of Jhansi and husband of Rani Laxmibai. His look standing in front of the throne is impressive with the turban, the sword in his hand and the rings, earrings, chains and the moustache.

Atul plays the role of Tatya Tope and his look is fierce as a warrior on the horse with the sword and the other members of his army backing him. The moustache and the sword stand out. Tatya has been one of the most popular names of the 1857 freedom uprising against the British. ‘Tope’ refers to the title that he took up as he was the commander of the army. It is said that he was close to Manikarnika aka Rani Lakshmi of Jhansi since childhood, practising sword-fighting together, and they fought to capture the city of Gwalior.
