Nana Patekar set for comeback in the South remake of 'Baby'!

Nana Patekar, who has not been seen on the big screen after the MeToo controversy, will soon start shooting for a Tamil remake of a Hindi film; reports suggest.

The film industry in India is growing dynamically since the last decade. Beyond the glamorous world of Bollywood, regional cinema is establishing itself in the mainstream field. And Bollywood is also accepting the trend by venturing into regional cinema in different ways. Some renowned Bollywood actors such as Akshay Kumar (Robot 2.0) and Sonakshi Sinha (Lingaa) has worked in the South Indian film industry.

One of the actors in the list also includes the legendary Nana Patekar, who has done numerous films in different regional languages in the South. There are speculations that Nana will soon add one more Tamil film in his kitty.

The makers of an upcoming Tamil spy thriller film have not officially made an announcement regarding the same just as yet, but a source close to the team has confirmed about it to a leading national daily. The Welcome actor will return to the big screen for the first time after the #MeToo Controversy.

It is also stated in the report that this film will star Jayam Ravi and will be a remake of the Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu Bollywood starrer Baby. Director I Ahmed will helm the film with a budget of around ₹60 crores.

The makers recently signed Iranian actor Elnaaz Norouzi for a pivotal role in the flick. The source also adds that the team will soon leave to Istanbul for its final schedule. The film has been predominantly shot abroad. The film will gear up for an August 15, 2020 release.

A worth mentioning fact about the film's director is he has already worked in Manithan, the remake of Hindi film Jolly LLB. This Tamil spy thriller film will also be dubbed in the three other regional languages. Lead actor Jayam Ravi is currently basking the success of his recent release Comali, which minted over ₹50 crores at the box office. It was reported that Boney Kapoor has acquired the remake rights of Comali and Arjun Kapoor will play the lead character.
