This year Anushka Sharma has been chosen for the iconic Smita Patil Memorial Award. Donning a green Chanderi sari, Anushka looked every bit of an evergreen diva. She is seen wearing a Banebar saree. The silk used for the six-yard cloth is called Katan silk with the body and motif made from Zari.

'Sui Dhaaga'is one-of-its-kind film giving the weavers and artisans of our country a distinct voice. For the film, Varun Dhawan learnt the art of dying clothes. To portray the role of Mauji on-screen, Varun ensured that he prepared well. Mauji gets well-versed with handloom in the film, and to perfect the same, Varun met with actual handloom workers to learn the art of dyeing fabrics.

"I learnt dyeing from actual handloom artists in Chanderi. I had a week or so to sit with them, watch them work and learn everything from them. I was sure that before I give the shot I would master their body language and the way they went about the intricate process of dyeing. It’s extremely tough and needs a lot of patience. Thankfully, I had the best teachers who guided me thoroughly," he was quoted saying.

A film about finding love and respect through self-reliance, Varun is paired opposite Anushka Sharma who plays an embroiderer in the film. Both champion actors, Varun and Anushka have come together for the first time and are definitely the most-awaited and freshest on-screen jodis of 2018.
