Priyanka Chopra reveals favourite cricketers, details of wedding match

The Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas wedding was unique in many ways. Be it Priyanka’s long veil, two grand events, a concert-like Sangeet ceremony, multiple receptions, Mehendi ceremony and more. That was not all, during the pre-wedding rituals, the ‘Ladkewaale’ and ‘Ladkiwaale’ even participated in a cricket match. Priyanka revealed that it was her relatives' idea to organise such a match to check her husband’s cricket skills. The Bajirao Mastani star added that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were her favourite cricketers.

Cricket runs in the family 

In a recent interview, Priyanka said that her cousins and from the father’s side, everyone loves cricket. Her father used to love cricket so much that if she would stand up and India hits a six, he’d ask her to stand for some more time. Priyanka also stated that her family is a ‘mad cricket-loving’ family, also because her uncle had played in the Ranji Trophy. That's why they decided to check Nick’s cricket skills, since he was becoming a member of the family, the actor revealed. Priyanka said that the match was then organised between 'Team Bride' and 'Team Groom', but Peecee’s team won. She revealed that Nick was an amazing baseball player, but because cricket and baseball were two different sports, her husband could not do wonders for his team.

Priyanka Chopra shared that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are her favourite cricketers. The ‘Desi Girl’ said she also knew the cricketers personally.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra is gearing up for the release of The Sky is Pink, where she plays the role of a mother to Zaira Wasim’s character, based on Aisha Chaudhary, a teenager who had taken motivational speaking after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. The Sky is Pink, however, apart from Aisha’s story, delves deeply into the love story of Priyanka and Farhan Akhtar’s characters.

In an exclusive interview with Republic TV, Priyanka had opened up on her character, “Like Aditi, I like living life to the fullest, I like lapping up every moment, I don’t take any of it for granted and I think Aditi set that tone for her family, for her daughter very much and I think that is a big similarity between us.” 

The movie, directed by Shonali Bose, also stars Rohit Saraf and is gearing up for release on October 11. The Sky is Pink is also produced by Priyanka Chopra, along with Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies and Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films banners.
