Priyanka Chopra Jonas is all set to appear on the big screen with the upcoming film The Sky is Pink. This movie will mark the end of Priyanka's three-year hiatus from Bollywood and is set to release on October 11, 2019. The film is a biographical drama that will follow 25 years of the real-life couple Aditi and Niren Chaudhary and the struggle they went through while trying to save their daughter Aisha, who suffered from pulmonary fibrosis. Priyanka has been busy promoting the movie and also recently featured on The Today Show to talk about the film and a few other topics.
During The Today Show, Priyanka discussed the real-life inspiration for the movie and why she decided to co-produce it herself. The movie follows the real-life events of Aisha Chaudhary and her parent's lives. When Aisha was only a year old, she was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Priyanka talked about how Aisha's parents struggled to give her a good life even if it was short and also mentioned that the couple is still going strong today and are not separated. That truly impressed Priyanka, as statistically, a large number of couples separate after the loss of a child. Priyanka believes that The Sky is Pink is an inspirational movie that brings families together, which is why she decided to act as a producer for the movie.
Although a Hindi movie from Bollywood, The Sky is Pink is still getting an international release, as the creators of the film believe that its message transcends language. Priyanka was also asked if she believed some movies transcend the language barrier, and she replied by saying that she did think so. She spoke about how the movie was received during its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. She said the audience for the first screening was a mix of people from all over the world but the movie managed to send the message across all its viewers and received a standing ovation for ten minutes straight. This is why she believes that The Sky is Pink is capable of transcending borders and languages.
The Sky is Pink is directed by Shonali Bose. The movie also stars actor Farhan Akhtar alongside Priyanka Chopra. Priyanka will play the role of Aditi while Farhan will play her husband and Aisha's father, Niren. The movie stars Zaira Wasim as Aisha and Rohit Suresh Saraf will play her brother Ishaan Chaudhary.
