Rajinikanth is a megastar in the Tamil movie industry since the 70s. He is one of the highest-earning actors in Asia. Primarily starring in Tamil movies, he has also worked in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and American movies. He was born in Bangalore (India) and was employed as a bus conductor before he joined the Madras Film Institute. He made his debut in Katha Sangama (1975) and became a star. Rajinikanth was born as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad on December 12, 1949, in Karnataka. He was a bus conductor during which time he reportedly caught the fancy of the bus travellers with his mannerisms and style of issuing tickets and blowing the whistle. Andha Kanoon:

Rajinikanth's debut Bollywood film was a revenge saga. He played the role of Vijay Kumar Singh in the 1983 film which was directed by T Rama Rao. Rajinikanth plays role of an angry man who sets out to take revenge against people who killed his family. The movie also had Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and Reena Roy in pivotal roles.

Chaalbaaz:

Chaalbaaz was 1989 superhit movie directed by Pankaj Parashar was a remake of 1973 superhit film Seeta Aur Geeta. It had Sridevi in double role with Sunny Deol and Rajinikanth playing her love interest. Rajinikanth played the role of a taxi driver Jaggu.

Hum:

After 'Chaalbaaz' came another successful film in 1991 - Hum. Hum saw him play younger brother to Amitabh Bachchan. The action crime film directed by Mukul S. Anand also had Govinda, Kimi Katkar, Shilpa Shirodkar, Deepa Sahi, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher and Kader Khan. The film was ranked second among the top grosser of 1991 at the box office and was declared a hit.

Aatank hi Aatank:

This 1995 crime film was inspired by The Godfather. The film featured Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla and Pooja Bedi in the lead. But it was a box office disaster.
