Randeep Hooda and Dia Mirza got involved in an argument on Twitter over the killing of a tigress in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit. As the actress shared a quote from a news story, the former felt that she made a ‘sweeping accusation’ against the Forest Department. Dia then stated that it was a ‘stark reality’ since the foresters need more to handle such situations with the rising man-animal conflict. Randeep, however, stated that it was wrong to ‘'make villains’ of the Forest Department on hearsay.

Shocking incident:

A video of villagers in Pilibhit hitting a six-year-old tigress with sticks is making headlines. As per reports, the tigress succumbed to injuries as the villagers even attacked the Forest Department officials and didn’t allow them to take the tigress to the hospital. While a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against the villagers, a magisterial inquiry will be conducted on the efforts taken by the forest officials in the situation.

Dia's reaction irks Randeep:

Dia, while reacting to the story, only shared the quote of the former field director of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, who stated that the tigress could’ve been rescued, but the forest department’s ‘inability’ to do so in nine hours, reflected their inability to save wildlife under adverse situations.

Randeep felt that Dia had made a ‘sweeping accusation’ against the forest department since he was of the opinion they are doing good work. He tweeted, “With all due respect I disagree with this sweeping accusation @deespeak Forest dept is capable and doing good work. She was beyond rescue when found as I talked with experts. Even staff got injured in process. It’s the forest dept thats keeping our wildlife alive not just NGOs.”

The actress then stated that she had merely shared a quote from the story and that she too has championed the cause of Forest Rangers. “Randeep, please know that this is a quote from the article attached clearly denoted by the inverted commas. I have always, and will always champion the cause of Forest Rangers and officials. They work with very frugal means and are brave, resilient, rakshaks of our lives.”

When he once again asked why he shared the particular quote, she replied, “Because this is also a stark reality that confronts us. With human animal conflict on the rise our foresters need more to handle these situations. They have been heinous attacks made on our foresters as well.”

Randeep was still not pleased, and replied, “In other words you do believe what you had picked to quote dear @deespeak let’s not make villains out of the forest department on hearsay and undermine their relentless hard work while going about town praising other players for theirs..the aim is the same, let’s work together.”
