The Mumbai Academy of Moving Image, shortened to MAMI, is a public trust which organizes the annual international film festival in Mumbai. With Deepika Padukone as the current Chair Person of the trust, the 21st edition of MAMI film festival 2019 has started recently. Actors like Alia Bhatt, Ananya Pandey, Jhanvi Kapoor and Deepika Padukone has appeared till now. Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar’s Saand Ki Aankh is set to be the closing film. Read to know more.

Saand Ki Aankh to premiere at MAMI

Saand Ki Aankh will be screened at MAMI 2019 as the closing film. It will premiere at the festival on October 24, 2019. In an interview with a daily, director Tushar Hiranandani talked about the premiere of the movie at the festival. He said that it is a matter of great pride for him and his entire team as his first directorial film will be screened at MAMI’s closing ceremony. He is hopefully positive that it will be loved by the viewers.

Anurag Kashyap, who is the creative producer of the film, also spoke about the news in an interview with a news portal. He said that the story of Saand Ki Aankh is an inspiring one. It can change mindsets. He is glad that it got a platform like MAMI festival and he is excited to see audiences’ reaction. Anurag also revealed the news on his social media handle.

The film is based on the true story of the lives of the oldest shooters in India, Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar, played by Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar respectively. It also stars Vineet Kumar Singh and Prakash Jha in pivotal roles. According to reports, the movie was first titled Womaniya but then changed due to copyright issue. Saand Ki Aankh will release on October 25, 2019, clashing with Housefull 4 and Made in China.
