Saand Ki Aankh trailer: Taapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar hits bulls-eye

If Aamir Khan showed that daughters were not less than anyone with ‘Mhaari chhoriya choro se kam hai ke’ in ‘Dangal’, now some elderly women are out to show they are champions too. While 'Dangal' was based on the story of real-life star wrestlers Geeta and Babita Phogat, Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar also showcase one such star sister duo. The actors are stepping into the shoes of Chandro and Prakashi Tomar, who earned fame as sharpshooters after the age of 60. The trailer of ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ was released on Monday, and it promises an inspirational tale of talent, determination and success while breaking the patriarchy present in the society.

Impressive trailer

The over 3-minute trailer of ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ starts with director Prakash Jha with the rifle in his hand, expressing that it looks good only in the hands of men. This is followed by Chandro and Prakashi being involved completely with the household chores. As the younger girls in their family practice shooting, but are not up to the mark, Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar’s characters showcase their ability to hit bulls-eye. Not just do they train the girls, but they also plan to showcase their potential in a shooting competition. 

The story then traces their journey towards success, which includes hurdles like being mocked at the competition or having their own personal problems at home to battle.

The trailer features some witty dialogues like ‘Akshay Kumar marvaya humko’ or the intense ones where Bhumi Pednekar says that she couldn’t figure out her age, because that she had lived for the men of her house and not for herself.  

Bhumi and Taapsee showcase brilliant chemistry, and it’d be interesting to see it when the movie hits the screens. Taapsee Pannu shared the trailer and wrote, “Here it is... our labour of love ... But this one is dedicated to all the mothers.... #SaandKiAankh.”

Bhumi Pednekar shared it with the words, “It is latest, absolutely fresh.”

‘Saand Ki Aankh’ has been directed by Tushar Hiranandani and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Reliance Entertainment and Nidhi Pawar. ‘Mukkabaaz’ fame Vineet Kumar Singh plays one of the other important characters. ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ releases on Diwali this year.
