Sanjay Leela Bhansali announces 'Baiju Bawra' for Diwali 2021 release

After the release of Gangu Bai Kathiawadi on 11th Sep 2020, starring Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to make his most ambitious magnum opus  Baiju Bawra — a revenge story of a maverick maestro. The musical saga will light up the screens on Diwali 2021. SLB's official Twitter handle made the announcement on the auspicious day of Diwali.

Netizens in the comments section speculate that Ajay Devgn might play the lead in the film. If that happens, then Ajay and SLB will be coming together for a film after 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' (1999).

Baiju Bawra was a dhrupad musician from medieval India. He was one of the court musicians of Man Singh Tomar of Gwalior. The musician's life was featured in the 1952 movie with the same title, directed by Vijay Bhatt. The film starred Bharat Bhushan as Baiju, and Meena Kumari, who played his love interest.

After much-anticipation, ace Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali finally announced his next project on October 16. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh in a recent tweet revealed that the film titled Gangubai Kathiawadi will star Alia Bhatt in the lead. In the post, he said that Bhansali Productions has collaborated with Jayantilal Gada's Pen India Ltd for the film which is scheduled to hit the theaters on September 11, 2020.
