Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) has spent nearly 27 years in the Bollywood industry. He is known for his roles in romantic movies and some see his acting skills as an inspiration for newcomers in the industry. SRK through the years has built up a loyal fan base because of his on-screen work in Bollywood. Here are 5 Shah Rukh Khan movies for which he has received much appreciation.

Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995)

The film Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge released on October 19, 1995. It was directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by Yash Raj Films. The film revolved around a trip across Europe where the characters of Raj and Simran meet and fall in love. However, Raj learns that Simran has already been promised to another. As a solution, he follows her to India to win her hand and father's consent for marriage to his daughter. The film gained a lot of appreciation by critics and fans and was declared a hit at the box office at the time.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)

Directed by Karan Johar, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai released on October 16, 1998. The film was critically acclaimed at the box office for the on-screen chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan's character and Kajol's character. According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan received a lot of appreciation for his acting in the movie. The plot of the film is about a woman ( played by Rani Mukherjee) who leaves letters for her daughter before passing away. In the letters, Rani's character asks her daughter to play matchmaker for her father ( played by Shahrukh Khan) and his college friend ( played by Kajol).

Devdas (2002)

The film Devdas was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film was released on July 12, 2002. It was declared a super hit at the box office. The film was about a man, Devdas Mukherjee,  who, having been forbidden by his wealthy family to marry the woman he was in love with, spirals further. Devdas' character, played by Shah Rukh Khan, loses control as he becomes an alcoholic in depression.

Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003)

Kal Ho Naa Ho was directed by Nikkhil Advani. It was released on November 28, 2003. According to reports, the film was appreciated for the storyline and the acting by the audience. The plot revolves around the character of Naina who is an introverted, perpetually depressed girl. Naina's character changes when she meets Aman (played by SRK) . But Aman has a secret of his own that forever changes her life. Embroiled in all of this is Rohit, Naina's best friend who masks his love for her.

Dear Zindagi (2016)

The film Dear Zindagi was directed by Gauri Shinde. The movie released on November 25, 2016. According to reports, the film received a lot of appreciation for the acting and the roles that were played by Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt. The film is about a girl, Kaira ( played by Alia Bhatt), who starts suffering from insomnia after a series of downturns in her career and relationships. She contacts a psychologist, Dr Jehangir Khan ( played by Shah Rukh Khan), who uses unconventional methods to treat her.
