Sonakshi Sinha is a well-known face in the industry. She was born in a celebrity family to veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha. Inspired by her father’s nickname, she is also known as Shotgun Junior. Over the years, Sonakshi has impressed many with her performances. Sonakshi Sinha made her debut in the industry in the 2010-released Dabangg. The movie stars Salman Khan in the lead. Getting cast as a leading lady along with a superstar in their very first film is a dream for many. Sonakshi played the role of a village girl named Rajjo. Her performance was praised by the audiences. She also received severe awards for best debut. Her dialogue “thappad se darr nahi lagta Sahab, Pyaar se lagta hai” become famous in no time.
Being a star kid did not make her journey easy for her. Many claimed that she found it relatively easy to land roles since she belonged to an influential celeb family She was also criticised for her weight and doing the typical 'village belle' roles. Others bashed her for mostly working with actors who were much elder to her in age. However, she never gave up and kept on working hard.

After her debut, she was seen opposite Akshay Kumar in Rowdy Rathore. It was two years after her first release. The actor appeared in four films in the same year. Her hits include Son of Sardaar along with Ajay Devgn, and the sequel of her first film Dabangg 2. With three hits out of four releases, Sonakshi made her name in the tinsel town. R... Rajkumar, Holiday and Ittefaq were also among her hits at the box office. Her recent multi-starrer release Mission Mangal collected more than ₹200 crores at the box office and become a blockbuster.
Sonakshi’s third film Joker was her first flop. Her movie Lootera starring Ranveer Singh did not perform well at the box office. However, her performance in the film is said to be one of her best to date and the film itself gained rave reviews. Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara!, Action Jackson and Welcome to New York also did not fare in the theatres. Her previous release this year, Kalank and Khandaani Shafakhana also did not match the expectations.
Sonakshi Sinha will next be seen in Saif Ali Khan-starrer Laal Kaptaan. It is reported that it will be a cameo appearance. She will reprise her role as Rajjo in the third installment of the Dabangg series. Dabangg 3 also stars Salman Khan and Saiee Manjrekar. The promotion of the film is expected to begin soon. It is slated to release on December 20, 2019.
