Are the opening day collections of a movie an indicator of the box office pull of an actor? If yes, there has been an evident decline for Hrithik Roshan over the years. After the actor’s films like ‘Agneepath’, ‘Krrish 3’ and ‘Bang Bang’ from 2012-2015 collected close to Rs 25 crore on the first day, the ‘Lakshya’ star’s ventures in the last four years like ‘Mohenjo Daro’ and ‘Kaabil’ have minted close to Rs 10 crore or just about managed to touch the double-digit mark at the box office. One can cite the less ‘commercial’ or ‘masala’ aspect of these movies as compared to the previous three, and the 45-year-old's latest venture ‘Super 30’ has also followed the same path in terms of both content and box office performance. The Vikas Bahl directorial has earned Rs 11.83 crore on the first day. However, the good news is that the movie is likely to grow over the course of its run at the box office.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh termed the collections of Rs 11.83 crore as ‘decent’ and stated that business picked up in areas like Mumbai and South towards the evening shows. However, he stated that it was ‘ordinary/dull’ in mass pockets, but it is likely to grow on Saturday and Sunday, and then the weekdays would be crucial.

The factor that would work most for the movie is that the reviews have been largely positive. Many of the celebrities like Karan Johar, Kriti Sanon, among others and netizens have praised it with intense words.

‘Super 30’ is likely to replicate Hrithik’s last film ‘Kaabil’ in 2017, which had also opened in the Rs 10-crore range and went on to cross the Rs 100-crore mark. In that case, however, there was a battle against Shah Rukh Khan ‘Raees’, but this time there are no major obstacles.

‘Super 30’ also stars Mrunal Thakur, Pankaj Tripathi, Nandish Sandhu, among others and is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Phantom Films and Reliance Entertainment.
