Taapsee Pannu’s next Saand ki Aankh is based on the lives of the world’s oldest female sharpshooters, Prakashi Tomar and Chandro Tomar. Taapsee will be seen playing the character of Prakashi while Bhumi Pednekar will be seen playing the role of Chandro Tomar. To prepare for their roles, the actors stayed with the shooters in Meerut.
Chandro and Prakashi Tomar hail from Johri village in Uttar Pradesh. They reportedly took up shooting during their fifties. Chandro is fondly called 'Shooter Daadi' while Prakashi is nicknamed 'Revolver Daadi'. During a month-long shooting schedule in Meerut, Taapsee chose to stay with the Tomars instead of a hotel.
Talking about her experience of staying with them in an interview, Taapsee said that it was one of the best experiences of her life. She further added that living in Johri with the two ladies who have strength and compassion was inspiring for her and there were so many stories to hear and so much to learn. While Taapsee stayed at Chandro’s place, she would often have lunch with Prakashi and dinner at Chandro’s place.
She further revealed that even her mom stayed with them for a week which reminded her of her childhood days and the beautiful houses in Punjab. Talking about the lifestyle, she also said that Chandro Tomar vacated the best room in the house for Taapsee. They would go and pluck fresh vegetables from their fields, and she got to work out on the open terrace.
This Reliance Entertainment Film will mark Tushar Hiranandani’s directorial debut. The film is produced by Anurag Kashyap and Nidhi Parmar. Saand Ki Aankh is slated to hit the screens on October 25, 2019. Fans seem pretty excited to witness the duo of Taapsee and Bhumi on the silver screen for the first time.
