Zoya Akhtar reveals 'Gully Boy' star Ranveer Singh is very ‘Sensitive, perceptive and nuanced'

The much-anticipated Bollywood venture 'Gully Boy' made its grand release on Thursday, February 14, 2019, and the rap drama is ruling the theaters ever since. Audience and critics have lauded the film in great words, and lead actor Ranveer Singh who aced the role of a street rapper in the venture was praised widely for his performance in the film. 

Recently, director-producer Zoya Akhtar opened up about the making of the film. In a recent interview, the filmmaker revealed that Ranveer played the sensitive rapper character of the film with complete ease. As per media reports, Zoya, who had previously worked with Ranveer in 'Dil Dhadakane Do', said that his flamboyant side often hides his depth and gravitas.

"Of course, we only see the flamboyant side but Ranveer is also very sensitive, extremely perceptive and nuanced. He is nuanced as a person and as an actor. I have a deep friendship with him and I know he is capable of a lot of sensitivity. So I found it easy to tap into that. He is a great actor and I don't think there is anything that he can't do," Zoya told PTI in an interview. 

When asked if Ranveer's super energetic nature may be a part of an image, Zoya said, "No, that's him. He is a complete package." 

The director further stated that it was great to know that people around the globe are praising Ranveer, Alia and other actors' for their performance because they had really worked hard on the project.

Directed by Zoya Akhtar, 'Gully Boy' stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead. It tells the story of an aspiring rapper who struggles his way up to success. Ranveer Singh aced the role of a street rapper in the venture and he was praised widely for her newly-discovered rapping skills. Alia was seen in the role of his love interest in the film.

'Gully Boy' premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival on Saturday, February 9, and received huge appreciation from the international audience. It is co-produced by Zoya Akhtar's Tiger Baby and Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment productions.
