It became the first R-rated film to pass the billion-dollar mark, which is quite a feat considering how before the release of the movie internet trolls were criticizing the movie for promoting 'white terrorism'.

Phoenix gave one of the best performances of his career and was even being compared to Heath Ledger's Joker. Heath Ledger's Joker in Batman: The Dark Knight is considered by many to be one of the best portrayal of Joker by any actor.
