Pirates of the Caribbean sails for a reboot

Pirates of the Caribbean is set to get a reboot soon. HBO’s hit miniseries Chernobyl’s creative mind Craig Mazin has been roped for this purpose. Disney has hired the Caribbean veteran Ted Elliott to work on this reboot with Mazin. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been termed as one of the most successful franchises in the film industry. The franchise gave a platform to actors like Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley to get cult icon status through their roles. Actor Johnny Depp’s character of the drunk pirate Jack Sparrow is considered to be one of his most iconic roles.

Although the franchise received a special status in pop culture, it did suffer a downward spiral after its five instalments. The franchise did not receive the sixth instalment after the last two films were not as successful as its previous instalments. Another major part of the film was its iconic star cast. It will be interesting to see whether the original star cast is maintained in the reboot. The reboot was already in making in 2018.
