Perry speaks of the ignorance

While speaking to King about the ignorance he faced in Hollywood, Perry said that his audience and the stories he tells are African-American. These stories limit themselves to a section of audience targeting group of people he knows, he grew up with, and the ones who speak the same language as him. He said that Hollywood will not understand that language as many critics don't speak it. He said that he was on movie sets that don't have other minority representation. He then talks about the African-Americans and LGBTQ people that come to work on those sets. He said that they are all represented as working hand in hand.

As he has often been criticized by his colleagues, King asked him if he seeks validation or that wasn't something that he paid attention to. Perry laughed off the question saying that he is not doing all this to seek validation. He asks to the ones who doubt him to visit such streets and see the people over there.
