Bengali Television Actress Payel Chakraborty Found Dead In A Hotel Room In Siliguri

Bengali television actress Payel Chakraborty was found hanging in a hotel room in Siliguri in West Bengal. She was an up and coming actor and had been seen in a number of television serials.

Bengali television and film actress Payel Chakraborty was allegedly found hanging in a hotel room in Siliguri, West Bengal. The incident took place on Thursday, September 6. After she failed to respond to various knocks on her door and check out, the hotel staff broke into the room and found her dead. Chakraborty was reportedly found around 5 pm. Her mortal remains have been taken to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. The cause of her death is unknown, although commenting on the incident, Gourab Lal, the senior Siliguri police officer, reportedly stated that Prime facie, it does look like a case of suicide, but the investigation is on, and the police are not ruling out other possibilities. As per reports, the actress had checked in on Tuesday, September 4, and was to head to Gangtok, on Thursday, September 6.

Chakraborty was an upcoming actress and had starred in various television serials, web series and films. She started with serials such as 'Chokher Tara Tui' and 'Goenda Ginni' and had recently started working in films. The news of her demise has left her co-stars and the entire Bengali film fraternity in shock. As per reports, Payel Chakraborty had completed all the hotel procedures and had asked to not be disturbed in her room. The staff became suspicious when she had locked the room from inside, and failed to order dinner. Her father Prabir Guha reportedly stated that he was not aware of the fact, that his daughter was in Siliguri, as she had left the family home stating that she was on her way to Ranchi. As per reports, he further also stated that Payel was undergoing mental stress.

On the work front, Chakraborty's film 'Kelo' is all set to release on September 14. She was to play a pivotal role in an upcoming Bengali film. Along with that, she was also to make a special appearance in the film 'Cockpit'. Chakraborty has been a part of various shows such as 'Ek Masher Sahitya', 'Goenda Ginni' and 'Choker Tara Tui'. She has also won many awards and laurels and was known for her contribution to the Bengali film fraternity. The investigation of this case is ongoing and more details are awaited.
