Sarkar row: Fearing imminent arrest, AR Murugadoss seeks anticipatory bail, details inside

What began as an onscreen revolution is fast translating to an off-screen one. Ilayathalapathy's 'Sarkar' has become a roaring success at the box office. However, the film is also swathed in controversy in spite of the people's approval. The director of the film AR Murugadoss tweeted on Thursday night that police have actually arrived at his residence and banged on his door several times. Fortunately, he was out and hence the authorities departed. Now, fearing further action from the cops, the filmmaker has sought a preemptive measure. According to reports, Murugadoss has moved the Madras High Court seeking an anticipatory bail. Apparently, the director fears that he will soon be arrested so he has taken countermeasures. The court is expected to hear the matter further during the day.

However, the police have since denied that they were trying to apprehend Murugadoss after his tweet went viral. Many celebs including TFPC president Vishal expressed grave concern over the turn of events. The AIADMK led government had heavily criticised the film and called Vijay and the director as 'maoists'. After some dialogue, the state government demanded that certain scenes from the film be cut, to which the makers have relented.

A couple of the objectionable scenes include Murugadoss throwing state given freebies into the fire and a reference to late Chief Minister of the state Jayalalithaa.
