Tamil superstar Rajinikanth's high-octane action entertainer Jailer, which made a roaring debut, is now experiencing a gradual decline in its box-office performance. The film opened to a staggering ₹48.35 crore and managed to sustain its audience pull. During its initial week, it amassed a remarkable ₹235.85 crore. However, a decline in collections became evident starting from the 12th day of its release, resulting in a second-week collection of ₹62.95 crore. The film has been in direct competition with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 and now Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Dream Girl 2 across India.

Jailer slows down as it enters 4th week
According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the film only garnered ₹2.40 crore on Thursday (August 31). As Jawan prepares for its release on September 7, this week might be Jailer's last opportunity to capture a significant audience. Despite the slowdown, the Rajinikanth starrer has amassed a grand total of ₹328.20 crore in India.

On Thursday, the film retained a strong presence in the Tamil states with an occupancy rate of 18.01%. The consistent trend of evening shows continues to attract the highest footfall.
Jailer surpasses Vikram in Tamil Nadu
Jailer is making waves in Tamil Nadu, surpassing the lifetime collections of Kamal Haasan's Vikram within the state. While Vikram took 85-90 days to accumulate ₹212.9 crore, Jailer achieved this milestone in just three weeks.

Among the highest-grossing films in Tamil Nadu, Jailer stands tall alongside iconic titles like PS1, Baahubali 2, and Viswasam.
Jailer to release on OTT?
Meanwhile, a high-definition print of Rajinikanth's Jailer has reportedly been leaked online on several piracy sites. This has led to speculations that the movie will get an early OTT release. According to 123Telugu, the Rajinikanth starrer may premiere on Sun NXT on September 7. However, an official announcement by the makers is awaited.
