Malayalam filmmaker Siddique died after suffering a heart attack. The director was rushed to Amrita Hospital in Kochi in critical condition and was also undergoing treatment for other ailments before he passed away on August 8. His death left the film industry in shock. Mohanlal, a frequent collaborator of Siddique, took to his social media handle to express his grief over the director's passing.

Mohanlal mourns director Siddique's death

Mohanlal was shaken after hearing the news of Siddique's death. He took to his social media to mourn his demise. He penned a heartfelt note and lauded the director for his signature storytelling through which he brought to the big screen common man's life problems.

His note in Malayalam translated to, "Expressing stories through natural humor and common man's life problems, Siddique, who became a favorite among Malayalees all over the world, cannot express the sadness of his untimely departure."

Mohanlal mentioned that viewers were waiting to watch Siddique's films as they were based on diverse range of topics. He also recounted how the late director used to make everyone laugh, reminded people not to lose hope and was a role model to all.

The Drishyam actor continued, "Siddique lived as an ordinary man, leaving luxury, being gentle in words and behavior, without showing hostility to anyone. I was lucky to act in Big Brother, the first film he acted as an assistant director from Kannumnattu to the final film Big Brother." He also referred to Siddique as a big brother and extended his condolences to his loved ones.

Mohanlal and Siddique's collaborations

Siddique's directorial debut movie titled Nokkatha Doorathu Kannum Nattu featured Mohanlal as the main lead. At the time, Siddique used to work with filmmaker Lal and worked as an assistant director to Fazil. Then, the late director worked as a writer in Mohanlal's film Nadodkikaattu, as a second unit director in Manichitrathazhu, as co-director in Vietnam Colony, and as the director in Big Brother.
