Nelson Dilipkumar has been basking in the success of his latest film Jailer. It marked his comeback after Beast failed to emerge as a box office success. In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, the filmmaker revealed that the success of the Rajinikanth starrer has made him calmer. Nelson also disclosed that he got the idea for Jailer's story even before the release of Vikram starring Kamal Haasan. Some netizens have claimed that the storylines of the two films are similar.
2 things you need to know
- Nelson revealed that he narrated the story of Jailer to Vikram director Lokesh Kanagaraj.
- He also claimed that the story of Jailer was conceived in January while Vikram was released later that year in June.
Nelson Dilipkumar on Jailer's connection with Vikram
In the interview, Nelson was asked about the criticism surrounding Jailer's story being similar to Kamal Haasan's hit film Vikram directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Responding to the rumours, he said, "I told the story of Jailer to Lokesh a long ago, and he asked me to see Vikram. He told me these are the things in the film, and I told him maybe the take-off might be similar, but Jailer goes on a different tangent."

"I didn’t consciously do it, but if they end up being similar, I didn’t want to change anything… because if we change something it might lead to some problems somewhere else (in the script). I thought people would enjoy both as long as they were good. Vikram was released last June, I told the story last January," he added.
Storyline of Jailer and Vikram
Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram follows a former undercover agent trying to hunt down the men responsible for the death of his son. Meanwhile, Jailer was also about a former police officer who embarked on a mission to save his son. Both the heroes later get help from their friends and old acquaintances and get the job done.
