70th National Film Awards Highlights: Rishab Shetty, Nithya Menen, Arijit Singh, Ayan Mukerji, Neena Gupta & Sooraj Barjatya conferred at Vigyan Bhavan.
70th National Film Awards LIVE: The winners for the year 2022 were honoured by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on October 8. The ceremony saw the winners in all categories - Sooraj R Barjatya was named Best Director for Uunchai. The adventure film, centred on four ageing friends readying to scale Mt Everest, also won Neena Gupta a Best Supporting Actress prize. Additionally, Mithun Chakraborty was bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, which is India's highest award in the field of cinema.
Manasi Parekh, who won her first National Award, broke down while being conferred the Best Actress award for Kutch Express. She shared her award with actress Nithya Menen for the Tamil film Thiruchitrambalam. On the other hand, Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman took home their seventh National Award.

- Manoj Bajpayee: The veteran actor has won big for Gulmohar. He has been awarded the Special Mention (feature film) Award at the National Film Awards by the Indian President.
- Miriam Chandy Menacherry: A documentary filmmaker and producer from Kerala , won the Best Direction (Non-Feature Film) award for her documentary From the Shadows.
- Gulmohar: Directed by Rahul V Chittella, the movie won the Best Hindi Film award. It also received a Special Mention and was recognised for Best Screenplay.
- Aimee Baruah: President Droupadi Murmu confers her with National Award for Birubala: Witch To Padmashri winning a Special Mention in the Non-Feature Films category.
- Vishal Bhardwaj: He receives the award for Best Music Direction in the Non-Feature Film category for his work on Fursat (Hindi).
- Deepak Dua: He was conferred with the Best Film Critic award by President Droupadi Murmu at the ceremony.

- Mani Ratnam opens up about making Ponniyan Selvan I: The director expressed gratitude for winning a National Award for Ponniyin Selvan and recalled his struggle to make the first installment. “It’s a very special film because it comes from a huge classic novel, which has been popular for over 50 years. It’s probably the most loved Tamil novel. It’s been a dream for me to do this project. I tried to make it 3–4 times before. So, I am glad I got it. I am glad that my work is recognised, and I’m getting a National Award for it,” he said. Ponniyin Selvan I won the National Film Award for Best Tamil Film, Best Sound Design and Best Cinematography.

- Jani Master's National Award suspended: Jani Master was to receive a National Award for Best Choreography for Thiruchitrambalam (2022). Pending rape allegations, the honour has been suspended. The Ministry Of Information And Broadcasting has also withdrawn his invitation to the ceremony.

- Mithun's big honour at National Awards: Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, star of films such as Mrigayaa, Disco Dancer and Prem Pratigya has been named the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the government’s highest recognition in the field of cinema.
- National Award for Best Documentary: Sohil Vaidya’s Murmurs of the Jungle will be honoured with the Best Documentary award at the prestigious 70th National Film Awards, hosted at Vigyan Bhavan in new Delhi.
