70th National Film Awards: Neena Gupta has won her second National Award in the category of Best Actress in a Supporting Role. The actress won the accolade for her film Uunchai which also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Parineeti Chopra. The actress is yet to publically react to the win.
Neena Gupta wins Best Supporting Actress
The 70th National Film Awards 2024 have been announced via a press conference by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, led by Ashwini Vaishnaw. Rishabh Shetty has won the Best Actor for the film Kantara while the Best Actress award has been won by Nithya Menen for Thiruchitrambalam and Manasi Parekh for Kutch Express. Neena Gupta won the accolade for her role in Unnchai.
Release in 2022, the film featured an ensemble cast including, Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Danny Denzongpa, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta and Sarika. Skipping a theatrical release, the movie was directly premiered on OTT and received a good critical response. It narrates the story of three friends Amit, Om and Javed who take a trek to Mount Everest's Base Camp to fulfil the last wish of their late friend. Neena plays the role of Shabina Siddiqui, the wife of Javed (essayed by Boman Irani) in the film.
