After Kangana Ranaut Accuses Alia Of 'Destroying' Women Centric Films, She Sends A Shout Out To...
Amid a delay in her film Emergency, Kangana Ranaut indirectly accused Alia Bhatt of "destroying" female-centric films by not supporting them.
Alia Bhatt is currently caught up in a controversy over her recent release Jigra. The film has failed to deliver at the box office and is struggling to cross the ₹20 crore mark in India after six days of its release. Amid the accusations of inflating box office numbers and copying Savi, according to Divya Khosla Kumar, Alia posted a message for Kriti Sanon ahead of the release of her debut production Do Patti.
The shout-out to Kriti comes after Kangana indirectly accused Alia of not supporting female-led films.
Kangana targets Alia amid lukewarm response for Jigra
After Jigra opened to poor numbers, Kangana Ranaut took to her Instagram Stories and wrote, "When you destroy woman centric films and make sure that they don't work, they don't work, even when you make them. Read that again. Thanks." Although the Manikarnika actress did not take Alia's name, many speculated that the message was for her.
This potshot aimed at Alia came when Kangana's directorial Emergency stands postponed pending CBFC clearance. Meanwhile, Alia posted a message for Kriti Sanon, which read, “Congratulations for your first production. Can't wait to watch.”
Jigra controversy explained
Controversies around Jigra include the negativity surrounding Alia’s casting in the movie and actor Divya Khosla Kumar’s comments that Jigra, a jailbreak drama, resembled the plot line of her last film Savi. The makers are also accused of inflating box office collection amid mixed responses to the film.
Separately, actor Bujou Thaangjam, known for his roles in Mary Kom and Shivaay, has accused the casting team behind the Alia Bhatt starrer of unprofessional behaviour. According to Bujou, he was asked to be available in December last year to shoot for the movie but never received a follow-up call. He also alleged discriminatory practices against actors from the North East.
