The actor was awarded the Padma Shri Award in the year 2009. She was last seen in the film Fanney Khan alongside Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. Here are a few films of the actor that had heart-breaking endings.

1.       Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is a film that star Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The plot of the film revolves around the concept of friendship and love. The film has been directed and written by Karan Johar. In the film, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s character falls in love with the Aayan, who is played by Ranbir Singh. However, Aayan does not reciprocate the same love. The character deals with the heartbreak over time. The film received mixed reviews from the audience.

2.       Devdas (2002)

Devdas was a film released in 2002 with Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film is an adaptation of a novel written by Saratchandra Chatterjee. The film was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film was highly celebrated as it won a number of awards. The song was also appreciated for the sets, costumes, and makeup. Devdas does not have a happy ending. Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Devdas, died in the last scene of the film due to excessive drinking.

3.       Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999)

This film was widely appreciated for its music and plot. The film was written and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It stars actors like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film was also produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film bagged a number of awards in that year. The film revolves around Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s character stuck in a love triangle. The film does not have a happy ending as she has to choose one of the two. Most fans felt empathetic towards Salman Khan’s character.

4.       Mohabbatein (2000)

Mohabbatein was a film where Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s character is the imagination of the character of Raj, played by Shah Rukh Khan. The film also stars actors Uday Chopra, Amitabh Bachchan, Jimmy Sheirgill, and Shamita Shetty, amongst others. In the film, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s character is shown dead from the very beginning. She only appears in a flashback scene later in the film. It was written and directed by Aditya Chopra. The film received a number of awards for its plot and performances.
