Ahead of the release of Sarfira, Akshay Kumar shared a video on social media to wish Sudha Kongara, the director of his next, Sarfira, on her birthday. He shared a video on his Instagram handle where he was seen riding a bike with no hands and Sudha riding pillion. Interestingly, this scene also features in the trailer of Sarfira and is an important part of the film, which will release on the big screens on July 12.
It is said that Akshay Kumar does most of the stunts in a film by himself. This video reveals that the bike stunt in Sarfira was performed by him indeed. The actor was seen riding a motorcycle with no hands.
He also mentioned that the video was shot for a scene in Sarfira. Akshay requested the audience to exercise caution and wear helmets while riding a bike. He captioned the post, "Happy Birthday, @sudha_kongara ! I hope your day is filled with as much laughter as we had during this #Sarfira ride while shooting :) Wishing you a year as great as your directing skills! PS: for those who enjoy trolling, this was just for the video during our shoot. Do wear a helmet when out on the road (sic)."
Sudha Kongara is the director of Sarfira. It is the first Hindi project of Suriya and Jyotika's 2D Entertainment, and it was formally announced in 2021. Unlike its Tamil counterpart Soorarai Pottru, which had to take the OTT route because of the COVID-19 outbreak, Sarfira is releasing in theatres on July 12. The Suriya-starrer Tamil film which released in 2020 won five National Film Awards, including best feature film and best actor.
Sarfira follows his character’s journey from debt-ridden beginnings to visionary entrepreneurship, navigating obstacles with resilience and innovation. The film is inspired by events from the life of GR Gopinath, founder of Indian low-cost airline Simplifly Deccan, as described in his memoir Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey.
