Animal director Sandeep Vanga's brother takes a dig at Triptii Dimri, praises Rashmika Mandanna

Despite giving promising performances before Animal, this Sandeep Reddy Vanga movie became a lucky fortune for Triptii Dimri. The actress played a mole named Zoya in the recently released blockbuster and was largely appreciated. This led to some people questioning the movie’s lead - Rashmika Mandanna’s credibility.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s brother defends Rashmika

In a recent revelation, Vanga’s brother Pranay Reddy Vanga expressed his belief that Rashmika did not receive due acknowledgement for her role in the movie. Despite playing a layered character as Ranbir Kapoor's wife, Rashmika did not garner the spotlight enjoyed by Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Triptii Dimri.

During an interview with iDream Media, Pranay, who co-produced Animal, addressed the issue of feminism in connection with the film and highlighted Rashmika's performance. He praised her portrayal of Geetanjali, stating, "Rashmika did a good job in comparison with RK. Ranbir is one of the top 3 actors in cinema today. But none of the media in Mumbai are writing much about her."

Pranay suggested that PR agencies and backgrounds might be factors affecting Rashmika's recognition. He noted the disproportionate attention given to Triptii Dimri after the film's release, overshadowing Rashmika. "I feel Rashmika’s role was the best role after RK," he emphasised.

Triptii Dimri’s overnight stardom

Triptii’s popularity soared post-Animal, evidenced by a 320 percent increase in her follower count, now standing at 4.4 million. She earned the title of India’s new “national crush”, a tag previously associated with Rashmika Mandanna. Rashmika, however, has not yet commented on this social media chatter.

“Geetanjali was a powerful character. (The critics) still want to make an issue. Rashmika did a good job in comparison with RK. Ranbir is one of the top 3 actors in cinema today. But none of the media in Mumbai are writing much about her. Maybe because of PR agencies and what her background is that mattered. They are not showing openly but if you see through those lines, you will undestand. Triptii got a lot of fame,” Pranay said.

Earlier, Animal actor Sidharth Karnick also addressed this fiasco and told Sidharth Kannan, “Everyone got their own importance. Maybe the intensity was different. I don’t think actors within the same project should be competing for popularity. Film does well, everybody does well.”
