Baap, Baap Rehta Hai: Sonu Nigam Rubbishes Comparison With Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, Md Rafi At Republic Plenary Summit

Sonu Nigam graced the Republic Plenary Summit 2025 on March 6 where he enthralled the audience with a live performance of his hit songs. Speaking at the biggest news event of the year, the singer shared how he does not like to be compared with music legends. He asserted that icons like Kishore Kumar are his Gurus and it does not appeal to him if someone takes his name in the same accord as them.

Speaking at the summit, Sonu Nigam shared that he has been performing on stage for the last 47 years now. On being asked if, after his vast journey, it is fair to compare him with the music legends, the singer refused.

Sonu Nigam quipped, "Baap, baap rehta hai, who baap hain humare. Rafi, Mukesh, and Kishore Kumar are my Gurus." He added, “I would not like it if someone compared me with them. I am just trying to make a place for myself using whatever they taught me.”

Sonu Nigam enthralled the audience with a live performance of his songs at the Summit. He walked the audience through his journey in the industry with his songs. He started the session by crooning the first song of his career that gave him recognition - Achchha Sila Diya Toone Mere Pyar Ka. He then sang the hit song UP Wala Thumka filmed on Govinda. He then spoke about his famous song released in 1997 - Sandese Aate Hain. He moved on to sing another chartbuster from his discography - Yeh Dil Deewana. He concluded the performance after crooning to his popular song - Kal Ho Nah Ho.
