Chhaava hit the big screens on February 14 and has been attracting audiences to houseful theatre ever since. The movie features Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles and has left a lasting impression on the cine-goers. Social media users took to their accounts to opine that the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj portrayed in the film should be included in school textbooks.

Chhaava has been registering record-breaking collections at the box office ever since its release. Patrons who watched the film took to their social media to express their awe of the legends of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and also pondered why such an important lesson in Indian history was left out of most school curriculum. Social media users have expressed their demands to make the story of Maratha rulers compulsory for scholars of history.

Several school teachers and administrations have organised screenings of the Vicky Kaushal starrer for the students, a step that is being hailed online. Netizens also pointed out that most history books provide extensive knowledge about the Mughal empire and rulers who invaded India but have omitted the sacrifices and valour of Marathas who fought for the countrymen. Several users have tagged the Ministry of Education to demand that lessons on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj be made compulsory for students and that schools must organise a screening for Chhaava.

Chhaava eyes ₹500 crore worldwide
Chhaava opened to a staggering ₹ 31 Cr in India. In the subsequent days, owing to positive word of mouth, the film's business grew substantially. The Vicky Kaushal starrer has amassed a total of ₹363.75 crore in the 12-day theatrical run in the domestic market. As per Sacnilk, the movie has raked in ₹ 510.35 Cr in worldwide collections.

Helmed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is a cinematic adaptation of the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant. Produced under the banner of Maddock Films, Chhaava was released in the cinema halls on 14th February 2025. In the film, Vicky Kaushal plays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, while Rashmika Mandanna essays the role of Maharani Yesubai and Akshaye Khanna plays Aurangzeb.
