Kunal Kohli, best known for directing Hum Tum, took to his Instagram account to voice his opinion on the current scenario of Bollywood. He shared his views on slashed ticket prices which has become a norm in the industry. He added that making ticket prices affordable is the only solution for the revival of cinema.
Kunal Kohli has weighed in on the debate of the slashed prices in Bollywood. Recently, moviemakers have resorted to discounted ticket prices when sales are low. Such low ticket prices help boost the business of the film when sales are less.
Taking to his X account, Kunal Kohli wrote, “I have been saying this forever. To maintain 100-200 then 300cr we kept raising ticket prices & Reducing footfalls. It’s never too late. Drop rates & see the magic.” His tweet came a day after the Cinema Lovers Day. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the statistics of the movie business on the day showing positive growth at the box office.
On May 31, trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his X (formerly Twitter) to share how discounted prices on movie tickets on Cinema Lovers Day benefit the films. He cited the example of Mr and Mrs Mahi and shared, ”Advance booking status of #MrAndMrsMahi has startled the industry… It clearly indicates, yet again, that affordable ticket pricing [₹ 99/-] can work wonders… And lure moviegoers in hordes *if* pre-release promotional assets excite them.”
