‘Darr’ apart from being Shah Rukh Khan’s breakthrough film has some well-known but interesting trivia associated with it.  The one that most are aware of is that Aamir Khan was earlier set to play SRK’s character of a stalker, but reportedly was removed from the film for asking a joint narration with co-star Sunny Deol. The lesser-known story related to the romantic thriller is that Sunny didn’t have a great time on the set, as he had creative differences with late director Yash Chopra and that led to a tiff with ‘King Khan’ for 16 years, because of which they never socialised with each other.

Sunny, who’s now a Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur constituency, in a recent interview with a news channel, opened up on what transpired on the sets of the 1993 film.

The actor revealed that during the shoot of the climax, he and Chopra got into a heated argument over the picturisation of the scene. The point of contention was that the ‘Ghatak’ star felt that since he was a commando officer, he could not have been easily stabbed by Shah Rukh’s character. The 62-year-old was of the opinion that it didn’t justify his character of a commando, if a layman could stab him looking into his eyes.

Sunny shared that since the flmmaker was elderly and he respected his senior, he couldn’t say much. The actor also said that he put his hands in his pockets, but he was so furious that he didn’t realise that he had torn his pockets out of anger.

When asked it was true that Chopra and SRK used to be 'scared' of him on the sets, Sunny quipped it was probably they were at fault.

When asked if it was true that he didn’t talk to Shah Rukh for 16 years,  Sunny said it wasn't so that they never spoke to each other after that. However, the actor stated that he just ‘cut himself off’, and there was no opportunity for them to socialise or meet in those 16 years.

However, the duo patched up. SRK had also wished his former co-star and Karan Deol when the actor-politician had announced he will be launching his son.
