Janhvi Kapoor is reported to replace Alia Bhatt in the Dulhania franchise. Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt headlined the comedy-drama films Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017). Their couple and chemistry in the film was hailed by fans who coined the term ‘Varia’ following the film. Despite the massive popularity, reports claim that not Alia Bhatt but Janhvi Kapoor has been roped in the star in the film’s third part. 

Janhvi Kapoor to fill in Alia Bhatt’s shoes in Varun Dhawan film 

A source close to the film’s development told Peepingmoon officials about the casting changes in the third part of the Dulhania franchise. Rumours suggest that the film will see Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor reuniting after their last outing Bawaal. While there is no clarity on whether Alia will be a part of the film or not, the source claimed that her busy schedule in 2024 might make it difficult for her to be included in Dulhania 3. 

Talking more about the upcoming film, the source told the publication, “Dulhania 3 will have a different plot and characters and is in no way connected to the previous parts, much like the approach taken with Badrinath Ki Dulhania. The pre-production for the film has already begun and will go on the floor in the next few months.”  However, film director Shaitan Khaitan, the production house or any actor is yet to give any confirmation on the same. 

When Alia Bhatt hinted at discussing Dulhaniya Part 3 

Badrinath Ki Dulhania clocked four years of release on May 10, 2021. At the time when the country was in lockdown owing to the coronavirus pandemic, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan along with director Shashank Khaitan celebrated the film’s four years via a video call. The Raazi actress took a screenshot of the discussion and hinted at a third part of the series in the making.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Alia wrote, “Here we are four years later secretly discussing part 3! Love you guys! Happy 4 years to us.” However, no conversation about the film was initiated thereafter. The makers are yet to comment on whether another part of the film is in the making.
