Kangana Ranaut: How has the actor worked her way up to stardom?

Kangana Ranaut started from scratch without any contact in Bollywood to support her. The self-made actor struggled her way up and was appreciated for her talent

About thirteen years ago, a girl-next-door amazed the audience with her mature performance in her Bollywood debut film Gangster. Starring opposite Shiney Ahuja and Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut received appreciation and received a Filmfare award for The Best Debut for the film. Over the next few years, Ranaut went from being typecast in similar roles to breaking stereotypes to becoming one of India’s leading actors. 

The turning point

The young actor experimented with complex roles despite being just twenty years old. Kangana Ranaut’s turning point was with Anurag Basu’s 2007 musical film Life In A Metro. The critically acclaimed film got this zestful and impactful actor loads of appreciation for her portrayal of an ambitious employee in Life In A Metro.

Monotonous roles

In spite of getting the admiration, the Woh Lambe actor was getting typecast in hysterical roles. Movies that earned her awards, including Fashion, Woh Lamhe, and Gangster, saw her play ‘emotionally exhausting’ characters. In the next few years, opportunities by the names of Raaz: The Mystery Continues, Kites, and Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai knocked on her door.

Tanu Weds Manu 

She gave a brilliant performance in all the above movies, but nothing could make people flockto the theatres just for her. That was till Tanu Weds Manu arrived with Saadi Galli. The Aanand L Rai romantic drama film starring R. Madhavan and Jimmy Sheirgill showed a unique side of Kangana Ranaut. The audience, who was once oblivious to her this talent, stopped and started respecting her.

Past success & upcoming projects

Opposite of ‘Mera Toh Itna Life Kharab Ho Gaya

After reshaping her career with the romantic comedy Tanu Weds Manu, Kangana opted for a new dimension in her career with Queen. She played a vulnerable girl or ‘abla-naari’ from Delhi who gains immense confidence by going alone on her honeymoon. The media and audience sang praises for the Queen of Bollywood.

Even controversies could not stop her from reaching heights in her acting career. She donned the director’s hat with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, in which she also played the lead role. As of now, Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for her forthcoming venture Panga alongside Richa Chadha, Jassi Gill, and Neena Gupta. Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and produced by Fox Stars India, the sports drama film is slated to release on January 24, 2020. It will not be surprising if the actor is be remembered for generations to come. Kangana Ranaut has everything, including courage, talent, and passion, that a legendary actor needs.
