Laila Majnu, Rockstar Re-release Success Paves Way For Tumbbad Re-run - Details

Owing to the box office success of Laila Majnu and Rockstar, now Soham Shah starrer Tumbbad is set to release in theatres later this week.

Tumbbad, starring Sohum Shah, earned positive reviews from the critics gaining the cult following. The movie released in October 2018, and grossed a total of ₹136 million at the box office against a budget of ₹50 million. Now, the movie is once again going to set the big screens on fire as the movie is re-releasing in theatres later this month.

This has come after witnessing the box office success of Ranbir Kapoor starrer Rockstar and Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary starrer Laila Majnu.

When will Tumbbad be re-release in theatres?

Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, the movie follows the story of Vinayak Rao in search of a hidden 20th-century treasure in the Indian village of Tumbbad, Maharashtra. In the village, a decaying castle hides an immeasurable ancestral fortune guarded by something ancient, sinister, and monstrous. Vinayak thinks he can control it, but how long will it be until his own greed destroys everything he’s built?

Ahead of its release in India, Tumbbad created history by becoming the first Indian movie to be premiered in the Critics' Week section of the 75th Venice International Film Festival.

Meanwhile, Indian theatres have been experiencing a blast in the past moment as the theatre owners decided to re-release the cult classic movies to the big screen. So far, movies such as Rocktstar, Laila Majnu, Love Aaj Kal and Maine Pyar Kiya, among others dazzled the silver screens.

Laila Majnu re-release box office report

The romantic drama Laila Majnu re-released on August 9 and in just five days surpassed its lifetime collection at the domestic box office. According to Sacnilk, the Sajid Ali directorial minted approximately ₹70 lakh gross collection on its first Monday (4th day), which is almost three times what it earned on its opening day, which was ₹25 lakh. The total collection of the movie is now approximately ₹2.85 crores gross in 4 days which is already higher than the film's first week total during its original run. Laila Majnu will outgross its final original run of approximately 3.20 crores gross in India on Tuesday night.
