Munjya Emerges As Sleeper Hit In Box Office Battle With Chandu Champion, Ishq Vishk Rebound Trails

Horror comedy Munjya has earned ₹80.11 crore at the box office, the makers announced on Sunday. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the Hindi film stars Sharvari Wagh, Abhay Verma and Mona Singh in the lead. It released on June 7. Production banner Maddock Films shared the update on its official X page.

It is giving a tough competition to Chandu Champion starring Kartik Aaryan and directed by Kabir Khan. The animation movie Inside Out 2 and Bollywood romcom Ishq Vishk Rebound are also running in cinema halls in India.

Munjya enjoys good run in its third weekend

"Another weekend of Munjya is making waves at the box office," the production banner captioned the post, stating the total domestic collection of the film stands at ₹80.11 crore in 16 days of its release. The latest offering in Maddock Films' horror comedy universe, Munjya follows the story of the eponymous mythical creature which has its roots in Marathi folklore.

It stars Suhas Joshi, Ajay Purkar and Bhagyashree Limaye. Stree 2, the next film in the horror comedy universe, is set to be released in theatres on August 15. It is the sequel of 2018's Stree, which marked the beginning of the popular franchise.

Chandu Champion box office run detailed

Chandu Champion box office picked up pace in its second week. It performed decently on its first 9 days at the box office and earned an estimated ₹42.75 crore India net. Its comeback in the second weekend is noteworthy when pitted against Munjya, which beat the former through the weekdays.

Meanwhile, Vishk Rebound witnesses an upward trend on Day 2. The film's growth could’ve been higher especially at urban centres," noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Inside Out 2 also continue to earn below the crore mark through Friday and Saturday. Upcoming film Kalki 2898 AD and its release in Hindi all movies are expected to face some loss.
