Munjya Vs Chandu Champion Box Office: Horror Comedy Does Better Business Than Kartik Aaryan's Film

After the Lok Sabha 2024 elections, new movies have finally started to release in cinema halls. Horror comedy Munjya, which is part of Maddock Films' horror-verse has sprung up a big surprise at the box office. The movie had no big name in the star cast and despite that it has performed well in its two week run till now. What's interesting is that it is not only eating into the business of Kartik Aaryan starrer Chandu Champion, but has also managed to surpass its collections in this week.

Munjya headed towards ₹70 crore collections

Munjya hit the big screens on June 7. The film starring Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh is based on Marathi folklore and has managed to attract good footfalls even in its second week. According to a report in Box Office India, the second week business of the film will stand at around ₹32 crore nett. This will make it the third-highest second week grosser at the box office, only behind Fighter and Shaitaan.

The film did better collections than Chandu Champion on Eid on Monday and on Wednesday as well. Munjya minted ₹35.77 crore in its first week and second week collections are just marginally lower at around ₹32 crore plus.

Chandu Champion struggles at box office

Kartik Aaryan stars in the biopic of India's first Paralympic Games gold medallist Muralikant Petkar. The film was expected to do good business but was off to a dull start. Opposition from Munjya has proved to a be a negative for the film. On Eid and this Wednesday, Chandu Champion did less business than the horror comedy.

According to Box Office India, Chandu Champion business went down 10% on Wednesday as it collected ₹2.75 crore nett taking its six day number to ₹31.50 crore nett. Both Munjya and Chandu Champion will look to the most of their respective box office runs before Kalki 2898 AD hits the big screens on June 27.
